Hi, I’m Ryan.
By day, I work in IT. By night, and most weekends, I am usually behind a camera chasing light, wildlife, or whatever moment happens to unfold in front of me. Somewhere in between, I am a dad to five incredible kids, not biased at all, and according to my wife, an occasionally annoying husband.
Photography is where I slow down.
The world moves fast, sometimes overwhelmingly so, and photography gives me a way to pause and notice the beauty that quietly exists all around us. My goal is simple. I want to create images that bring a sense of calm, wonder, and perspective. We are all tiny specks in an enormous universe, yet this planet we call home is extraordinary, and I love capturing moments that remind us of that.
I did not begin with film cameras or darkrooms, unless disposable cameras count. My photography journey truly started in 2002 with a Canon PowerShot A520. I took plenty of spectacularly awful photos and was absolutely convinced I was a genius. The people who loved me were kind enough not to correct me.
In 2005, I bought my first DSLR and instantly became a professional, at least in my own mind. As it turns out, better gear does not automatically create better photographs. That lesson came later after spending countless hours learning from patient and talented photographers who introduced me to the fundamentals such as shutter speed, aperture, light, composition, and perhaps most importantly, patience.
Over the years, I have explored many genres of photography including corporate events, family portraits, product work, sports, and even a few weddings. Each discipline taught me something different, whether timing, connection, storytelling, or technical precision. While I value those experiences, my greatest passion today lies in landscape and wildlife photography, where preparation meets unpredictability and nature writes the story.
This website is a living project that continues to evolve alongside my photography. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to look around.
Cheers,
Ryan
